I often come Dhaka whenever I feel bored in London. This time my visit was different as I decided I won't go back again in London. But now I feeling this is challenging in some extend impossible.
Before 2003, I have no idea how London is though watching satellite programme anyone can guess what would be the western life style. After living in UK for 7 years I feel it is challenging to live in Dhaka.
Traffic jam is not a problem; problem is having no traffic law. There is no limit for speed either on highway or residential areas. There is no sign for pedestrians how to and where to pass the road. On busy road, it is completely chaos. And the noise of horns is heard always.

Aliens and religions

if we ever find aliens, it might disclose some of the unanswered/disputed matters in religious books.

iPhone 3g unlocked to t-mobile

Yesterday evening I unlocked my iPhone 3G to t-mobile network from o2. I have been using my iPhone since May 2009 but it was locked to only 02 network. I attempted once to unlock it by local phone shops but they asked for loads of money 20 to 40 pound. I gave up that time and thought no need to unlock it.
But yesterday evening one of my mates unlocked his iPhone for 15 pound from a local shop. Then I asked myself I should do it. I wasn’t that much desperate but keen to search any software on net to unlock it. It didn’t take long to find a video clip in youtube where one of the uploader describing how he unlocked his phone within 30 minutes just downloading one piece of software. And the software was free. I was very tempted. I downloaded the software immediately and follow the instructions from that video and within 25 to 30 minutes my iPhone was unlocked to t-mobile and still I can use all the apps from app store and the firmware still remains 3.1.2 which means I have all the features of 3.1.2 e.g. cut, copy, paste, search etc.
The software I used is called black rain. The website of this software is
www.blackra1n.com
Then choose either mac version or windows software.
Remember: in the word blackrain, is not ‘i’, is number ‘1’. careful when you type. I was struggling at first.
I think this is the one of the quickest way to unlock your iPhone.
oh, make sure you backup your iPhone through itunes, because the contents will be deleted before it unlocks your iPhone. This software doesn’t unlock any 2G model, only 3G or 3GS model. You must have current firmware 3.1.2 already installed to unlock by blackra1n software.

Building Knowledge Portfolio

I am spending my weekdays time to develop my knowledge portfolio in Software engineering field. I recently completed postgraduate in software engineering. I learnt too many things but didn’t grasp well. So I thought it would be better if I could brush up my some existing skills and knowledges which will help me to get a job in IT industry.
I think basic concepts of software engineering is crucial. So I make a plan for everyday that I will spend 4 hours to learn basic concepts about software engineering topics such as process models, process improvements, software metrics, UML, testing. I am following the book by Shari Lawrence Pfleeger “Software engineering: Theory and Practices”. Bit old edition but still rocks!
I am also learning new programming languages; objective-c and today I am learning adobe flex.
I also want to sit on GRE exam in next year. So I am preparing myself on it. Its bit tuff specially in mathematics and verbal part. I also reading and studying puzzles to get prepare for job interview.
I found from internet that to get a good job, I need to go for aptitude tests which require maths, verbal, analytical and problem solving skills. So I believe doing GRE and solving puzzles will help me to cover that aptitude test part. In interview stage, recruiter asks very basic questions about software engineering, programming and object oriented programming concepts. Studying the Shari’s book and practicing the Java, Objective C and adobe flex will help me to cover that part. But I also want to develop software or web applications and contribute to open source community e.g freshmeat.com or sourceforge.net. Because employer is more likely to see my work as I don’t have any significant amount of commercial experiences so having contribution to open source development or developing applications personally will give me a better option to fight. So My plan is simple:

Studying software engineering concepts

Learn new language objective C , Adobe flex and brush-up existing skills such as Java.

Studying for GRE and solve puzzles.

Brown's immigration proposal

Since 1997 Labour has brought 3 million extra immigrants into Britain, who will add 7 million to the population over the next 20 years.
Under Labour net immigration has quadrupled to 237,000 a year. In 2012, UK government wants all citizens in UK should have biometrics ID card. It was a hot and heat topic in news last couple of years. Most of the british people don’t want ID card because they believe it would compromise their freedom and privacy. But for the foreign national is not the same case. All the foreign national must get ID card which was started last year. This ID card replaced the traditional entry clearance or visa. Now home office does not emboss the visa on applicant’s passport instead they give an ID card which has a tiny chip; carried all the necessary information of applicants. Card explicitly shows the applicant’s name, sex, nationality, date of birth, visa category, issue and expire date, limitations of status and a photo. One security guard told me that their system is down so they are not sure whether they will be able to take our fingerprints today. I was booked at 4:30 pm, but i got into the house bit early, gone through security check and then initial check about my identity then i was told to go to first floor. At first floor, its a huge crowd waiting there. My ticket number was 432. after 1 hour i was called and gave my fingerprints and the officer took my photo. After that i was waiting for half an hour for to check whether fingerprints gone correctly or not. later on, the another officer told me to leave my mobile number in case if there is a problem they can call me.

Can’t concentrate on dissertation

whole day today I was watching programme in bbc iplayer, watch a film, did shopping from waitrose, smoked few cig and drunk a 250g wine. Got the results yesterday evening. Happy with the results.

Yesterday, I met my project /dissertation supervisor Amanda Jefferies. I discussed with her my project proposal. My project topic is: Adopting pair programming in a software project: issues and tactics. My project duration is two months( excluding the submitting project proposal): July and August. I have to submit in 7th September.

It involves studying the literature, case study, interviews. Maximum length: 12,000 words.

Lots of reading.

self-discipline, planning, organize.

Time is very crucial.

that’s very challenging: writing a report 12,000 words within 2 months.

Apprentice Episode 5: Final: Winner Yasmina Siadatan

Finally Apprentice in UK series completed with the winner Yasmina Siadatan and made the Kate Walsh as a runner-up.

I think this time, it was fair for Kate that she lost, she wasn’t that competitive compared to Yasmina. But if we see last 5 apprentice, we always argued that was the right person got hired, even in the last year apprentice everybody was shocked when sir alan hired somebody who mislead the interviewer lying in his cv. But this time I think, almost everybody agreed that Yasmina was the right choice. From the day Yasmina started her task, I had the feelings she got the potential, she could be the apprentice, I had a doubt with Debra, but later I believed she won’t stay long enough, then Kate, but to be honest, I didn’t think Kate will win, she was a good team player, shown some managerial skills but she lacks business knowledge, instinct where Yasmina always had the strategy- reduce the cost… it seemed to me it was her motto. She is highly focused, a good team player, good management skills and she learnt from her previous mistakes.

Though Kate had also good personal and business skills or qualities one of them obviously was presentation. Her interview performance was amazing, nobody in apprentice history ever done such a outstanding performances in interview. But I think she is not the full package like Yasmina. Yasmina had the natural business instinct which Kate lacked. But for the first time ever, everyone agreed Yasmina was the right choice but at the same time everyone wished if they could both won.
